Julia Mader joined AI APS team as Head of Scientific Board!


Julia is the Professor at the Department of Endocrinology and Diabetology at the Medical University of Graz, Austria, and Deputy Head of the Diabetic Outpatient Clinic.


She received her medical degree from the Medical University of Graz, where she also studied internal medicine, endocrinology, and diabetology. From 2016 to 2017 she was Visiting Professor at the Department of Diabetes, Endocrinology, Clinical Nutrition, and Metabolism at the University Hospital Bern, Switzerland. She is the Head of the Research Department for Diabetic Technologies at the Medical University of Graz.


Professor Mader's research focuses on diabetic technology with a focus on insulin pumps, continuous glucose monitoring, artificial pancreas, and decision support systems for diabetes management.



She has published over 90 peer-reviewed scientific papers and is an associate editor of Frontiers in Clinical Diabetes and Healthcare. She has received several national and international diabetic technology awards.


Professor Mader is a member of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes, the Austrian Society of Internal Medicine, the Austrian Diabetes Association, and the Austrian Society of Endocrinology. She is a member of the board of the Austrian Diabetes Society, where she chairs the Committee on Diabetes Education and is also a member of the Committee on Diabetes Technology.


In our team, Julia is responsible for the scientific support of the project as a whole, as well as for the preparation for clinical trials to obtain European certification.
